TKCJLEO – 49 undocumented foreign nationals arrested on N4

Law enforcement authorities from Botswana, Namibia and South Africa continue to clean lawlessness on the Trans Kalahari Corridor, route N4.

This is a result of the high number of law enforcement agencies from the three countries who are determined to stamped their authority during the first day of the 14th Trans Kalahari Corridor Management Committee Joint Law Enforcement Operation currently that is underway in Rustenburg.

The determined law enforcement officers arrested 49 foreign nationals who failed to produce required documents.

In one incidents, officers on duty stopped a 7 seater Toyota Fortuner, where 12 foreign nationals were squeezed inside.

The Trans Kalahari Corridor Secretariat Executive Director Mr Leslie Mlungisi Mpofu applauded the officials for their sharp focus, commitment and quick response upon noticing the suspicious vehicle on the road.

“This operation is contributing immensely towards the cleaning up of criminal activities on this corridor. We need to instill confidence on our transporters that the corridor is safe and secure.

This will grow volumes on the TKC thereby promote economic activities that will benefit people living along the corridor.

On this 14th operation, we are indeed stepping in the right direction,” said Mpofu.

The TKCMCJLEO started with a two day information sharing session (Monday and Tuesday), and will continue for the rest of the week.
