MEC MORWENG STATEMENT ON THE CONTEMPTIBLE INCIDENT WHERE A SON ALLEGEDLY BLUDGEONED HIS MOTHER TO DEATH

MAHIKENG – The North West MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng is appalled by a contemptible incident that took place in Mosianeview Village outside Mahikeng.

In the video widely circulated, a young man who was later confirmed to be about 25 years is seen bludgeoning his mother to death with a spade. In an incident that took place at around 11:00 on Saturday, the 04th of October 2025, the young man appeared to have been in a frenzy.

He allegedly later succumbed to shots fired by a neighbour who wanted to restrain him down as he was reported to have been in an aggressive and uncontrollable state.

MEC Morweng appealed to the community to stay calm and allow the police to conduct a thorough investigation.

“The incident is quite disquieting and we implore on all who may have witnessed this ghastly act to work with the police and share whatever information they may have on the young man to ensure there is a speedy investigation into this reprehensible incident”, said MEC Morweng.

It is at this stage not known what could have incensed the young to commit such a repugnant crime.
