North West Legislature Portfolio Committee on Transport Management to Reconvene NTI Inquiry Sitting
The North West Legislature Portfolio Committee on Community Safety and Transport Management chaired by Hon. Freddy Sonakile, will reconvene to continue its inquiry into the affairs of the North West Transport Investment (NTI) SOC Ltd.
The meeting is scheduled as follows:
Date : Friday, 16 January 2026
Time : 09h00
Venue : NWPL Committee Room 2
At the previous sitting, the Business Rescue Practitioner, Mr Thomas Sammons, did not attend but submitted a medical certificate, which was accepted by the Committee. Mr Sulieman Carrim, Director of Ziggy Investments, also indicated difficulties with the service of summons as he was outside the country at the time.
In light of these developments, the Committee resolved to defer the matter to January 2026 to ensure the attendance of all implicated parties. Fresh summonses were issued in December 2025 to all relevant individuals, including former NTI Chief Financial Officer, Mr Abel Kenoshi.
“The Committee expects full cooperation from all summoned parties to allow the inquiry to reach finality and for the Committee to conclude and table its report. Failure to comply with the lawful summonses will leave the Committee with no option but to institute criminal proceedings for contempt, in terms of the Powers, Privileges and Immunities of Parliament and Provincial Legislatures Act.
The Committee reiterates that it has exercised considerable patience throughout the process, despite the continued suffering of workers, the collapse of the company, and the hardship experienced by commuters.
Members of the Media who would like to be part of the meeting can contact Ms. Senzile Dabula on 079 879 1408.
