MEC MORWENG ACTIVATES EASTER ROAD SAFETY OPERATIONS

The Norh West Province has steadily been reducing road crashes especially during heightened travel periods.
This, largely due to operational strategies the Department has been implementing. Some of the strategies included intentional operations focused on moving violations, drunken driving and driver fatigue.

During the last week of the 2025/2026 festive period, just below six thousand vehicles were stopped and searched on arterial roads.

This was a similar approach for the entire festive season and this significantly reduced road crashes.

The MEC for the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng will be activating the 2026 Provincial Easter Road Safety Operations on N4 which has proven to be one of the critical roads.

The media is invited to be part of the operation that will be held as follows:

DATE: Thursday, 02 April 2026
VENUE: N4 near Bapong Traffic Control Centre – Majakaneng
TIME: 08:00

To confirm attendances for logistical arrangements, kindly call Mr Rebaone Moeng +27 78 456 6351.
