Department equips traffic officers with ProLaser 3 speed enforcement skills
DR KENNETH KAUNDA DISTRICT – The Department of Community Safety and Transport Management has strengthened its road safety efforts by training traffic officials on the use of the ProLaser 3 Speed Measuring Equipment.
The training, presented by Truvelo Africa at the Klerksdorp Recreational Centre, concluded today and forms part of the department’s ongoing commitment to improving traffic law enforcement through the use of modern technology.
During the session, officials received both theoretical and practical instruction on the operation, maintenance and safe handling of the ProLaser 3 speed detection device.
The laser-based equipment is designed to accurately measure vehicle speeds and is capable of operating in extreme temperatures ranging from -30°C to 60°C, ensuring reliable performance under varying weather conditions.
Truvelo Africa, an electronics and engineering company specialising in traffic enforcement technology, also trained officials on proper maintenance procedures, safety precautions and operational requirements to ensure the equipment remains in optimal working condition.
Traffic officers were reminded that only certified operators are permitted to use the ProLaser 3 during law enforcement operations.
They were further advised to carry all required documentation, including a valid ProLaser operator’s certificate, appointment card and calibration certificate whenever conducting speed enforcement.
Addressing the participants, Truvelo Africa facilitator and trainer encouraged officials to uphold professionalism and take pride in their responsibilities.
“It all starts with you. Respect the uniform you wear and pay attention to the small details. That is what builds new knowledge and stronger competence,” he said.
The Department of Community Safety and Transport Management says the training reflects its continued investment in equipping traffic officers with the practical skills and professional knowledge required to enforce road traffic laws effectively and contribute to safer roads for all road users.
