BOOSTING HEALTH AND PRODUCTIVITY THROUGH PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IN GOVERNMENT

MAHIKENG – Employees from various provincial departments participated in a collaborative wellness sports event held at Mmabatho Stadium today, hosted by the Department of Education, with support from the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management and Provincial Treasury.

The event, coordinated through the Integrated Employee Health and Wellness Directorate, promoted healthy living, workplace wellness and stress reduction through physical activity.

Employees participated in soccer, netball and aerobics, creating an opportunity to promote teamwork, physical fitness and mental well-being in the workplace.

The Government Employees Medical Scheme (GEMS) also provided free on-site health screening services, including blood sugar and cholesterol checks, blood pressure monitoring, and HIV testing and counselling.

The Department remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote the health and well-being of employees, recognising that a healthy and engaged workforce is essential to delivering effective public services.
