SELFLESS AND SOLUTION-DRIVEN LIFE OF THE LATE MOTLALEPULE HLATSWAYO CELEBRATED
**BOJANALA PLATINUM DISTRICT** – Officials from the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management (DCSTM) gathered to pay tribute to the late Ms Motlalepule Hlatswayo at a memorial service celebrating her life, legacy and dedicated service to the public.
Ms Hlatswayo was remembered for the many roles she fulfilled as a mother, sister, public servant and leader. She was affectionately described as a compassionate, humble and peace-loving individual whose commitment to serving the public and the broader community was evident throughout her life.
“Motlalepule was like the calm after a stormy day; always down to earth but very present for everyone in her life. Though she may be gone, her spirit shall forever remain with us,” said Mr Katlego Serapelo, a lifelong friend and colleague.
Representatives of the taxi industry also paid tribute to Ms Hlatswayo, acknowledging her professionalism, strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to improving transport services in the province.
“Motlalepule served our people in a welcoming manner and applied an approach rooted in care and commitment to improving transportation in the province,” said Mr Serame Sebego, Chairperson of the Bojanala Taxi Council.
In his address, Head of Department, Dr Hans Kekana, recognised Ms Hlatswayo’s selfless dedication to serving the people of the North West Province. He urged officials to draw inspiration from her life and embrace the values of humility, compassion and commitment to public service.
“The journey of Motlalepule is what we should all try to imitate. A journey of selfless service, humility and working towards bettering society. That is what the Department should therefore work towards becoming,” said Dr Kekana.
The memorial service served as a reminder that, although life is finite, the impact of our actions, the values we uphold and the way we treat others can leave a lasting legacy. Ms Hlatswayo’s life of service and dedication will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.
The Departmental Chaplain highlighted the importance of kindness, tender-heartedness and forgiveness, drawing from Ephesians 4:32, which calls on people to be kind and compassionate towards one another, forgiving one another as God forgave them through Christ.
The Department extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and all those who mourn the passing of Ms Hlatswayo. May they find comfort and strength in the memories of her life and the legacy of service she leaves behind.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
