Celebration of Secretaries Day
Secretaries day was created to commemorate all secretaries and administrative professionals in the work place, it’s the history that date back as far as 1951.
After World War 2, jobs were plentiful for vibrant and enthusiastic women to help steer the ship.
The Department of Community Safety and Transport Management celebrates this day by acknowledging the importance that secretaries play in the department, and it has forged valuable bonds and professional status with them.
The celebration of this day is a way of recognizing the pivotal role that they play in the workforce in promoting professionalism, values and not forgetting the importance that the job entails.
The three days celebration started with a conference held in Sun City at Rustenburg.
Chief Director for Corporate Services, Dr Ntlhopeng Dikobe welcomed everyone present and outlined the purpose of the conference “ We thank you for your hard work and dedication. You are the engine and anchor of the department and without you we won’t be able to shine” said Dr Dikobe
Mr Thabang Moloi a life coach from Mokwai Business Solutions led the conference and presented the Administrative Excellence workshop in which the attendees were taught about the mastering of management support.
This initiative is coordinated by Mokwai Business Solutions in collaboration with Gender Focal Point and Diversity Management Unit, which is directed to intensify the rights of designated groups.
Gender Focal Point and Diversity Management Manager Ms Gloria Tshepe in her words of encouragement said, the person who answers the telephone , note down messages, book the flights and sorts out accommodation is more than a Secretary, in fact is the strength behind his or her executive manager.
“Secretaries ensures that the office work runs smoothly and where there are challenges they have to come up with a way of unblocking them. They are suppose to have a smile on their faces when serving the clients hence the department is giving a befitting occasion for their selfless and dedicated efforts.” said Tshepe.
