THUNTSA LEROLE BENEFITS DR RSM COMMUNITIES

North West MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng has encouraged the police to constantly engage and share their frustrations with the Department, particularly those that needs his intervention to improve their services to the communities.

MEC said this during his oversight visit at Stella police station as part of the Thuntsha Lerole Accelerated Service Delivery Programme in the Naledi Local Municipality under Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District.

Number of challenges at the station were reported to the MEC which some he said they need immediate attention as they negatively affect Service delivery.

The station has no holding cells, and currently detaining awaiting trialists in Vryburg, which is 40km apart.

“Some of the issues they need to be communicated with us constantly so that we are able to fast track the intervention.
The arrangement of detaining in Vryburg is tedious and time consuming. Whike the vehicle goes to detain there another case is reported and thats where our communities will get stories of no vehicles,” said Morweng.

In the Huhudi, the station is dealing with a high number of drug and substance related cases, especially at schools within the vicinity of the station.

The South African Police Service District Commissioner Brigadier Tshenolo Tlotleng explain to MEC on their worrying trend of Gender Based Violence cases that are registered over the weekend and be withdrawn during the week.

MEC Morweng continued with the activities of Thuntsha Lerole Accelerated Service Delivery Programme by introducing the new commuter transport service provider who will operate within the District. This follows the termination of previous operator for poor service delivery.The buses will operate around several villages in Taung, Vryburg as well as Kagisano Molopo Municipality villages such Ganyesa,Tlaakgameng, Austry and others.
