Department of Community Safety and Transport Management Embarks on Departmental Lekgotla for the financial year 2025/26
The Department of Community Safety and Transport Management has commenced its strategic planning process as part of Lekgotla for the period 2025/26, with a focus on developing a comprehensive plan that will guide its operations and activities over the years. The department’s Executive Departmental Management Committee (EDMC) has been tasked with leading this process, which is expected to culminate in the development of a solidified document that will inform the department’s strategic direction.

The three-day planning process officially opened by the Head of Department, Hans Kekana, who emphasized the importance of developing impactful targets and objectives that will enhance the department’s performance. Dr. Kekana urged all officials to participate actively in the planning process, stating that their input is crucial to ensuring the success of the department’s strategic plan. “We require and request your input to have a fruitful session , thanks colleagues” , Dr Kekana said.

The key objectives are as follows, the department will review its Annual Performance Plan to identify areas of improvement and develop strategies to address these gaps. The department will also develop strategic plans for the 2025/26 financial year, which will be aligned with its overall strategic objectives.

The department’s Health and Wellness Awareness directorate emphasized the importance of prioritizing health, particularly in the context of the global commemoration of Tuberculosis (TB). The theme for this year’s commemoration is “Yes we can end TB,” which highlights the feasibility of achieving a TB-free population. The directorate encouraged all officials to prioritize their health and join hands to end TB.

Mr. Kagiso Morapedi from the Public Transport Services explained the complexities of transport services in district and local municipalities. He emphasized the importance of integrated transport plans, collaboration and capacity building to address challenges such as inadequate funding and insufficient resources.
