MEC MORWENG WELCOME THE SWIFT ACTIONS BY POLICE IN THE ARREST OF THREE SUSPECTS FOR THE MURDER OF A CONSTABLE IN GANYESA
North West MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management Wessels Morweng welcome the breakthrough by the police in the arrest of three suspects following the murder of a 41-year-old off-duty police Constable in Ganyesa.
According to police information, the late Constable Eric Tekolo was attacked on his way home after knocking off.He was taken to the local clinic after being found with stab wounds on the street at Phohung Section, Ganyesa village outside Vryburg on Friday evening, 04 April 2025. The officer later succumbed to his injuries.
The team of investigations was asssebled to prove further and the tiredless efforts led to the arrest of three suspect aged 19, 23 and 25 including the recovery of some of the victim’s robbed goods.
MEC Morweng is calling on comminity members to work closely with police to eliminate criminals out of the communities as he says they have chosen to be animals.,”If a person becomes an animal in the community let’s treat her or him as such and if that animal is a problem let’s remove it from the society and take it where it belongs which is jail.You look at their ages as well very young, young to be contributing to the development of their community not distruction as they chose to.”
MEC Morweng further said the attack on a police is equals to the attack on the state. “As the state we wont fold our arms and rendered useless,we must hit hard to free our communities from this cowards,” said Morweng.”
The suspects are expected to appear in the Ganyesa Magistrate’s Court today Monday, 07 April 2025, facing charges of robbery and possible murder.
MEC Morweng sends message of condolences to the family and the SAPS community. He is also expected to visit the family today in the afternoon.
