04TH QUARTER 2025/2026 PROVINCIAL TRANSPORT FORUM
The Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, under the directorate of Transport Operations flanked with relevant stakeholders inclusive of District’s Municipalities and private sectors convene to further complete the 4th Quarter 2025/2026 Provincial Transport Forum in Bojanala District, chaired by the Deputy Director of Transport Planning and Coordination Mr. Segopotso Molotsi.
The relative core purpose from the previous three quarters, is to meet as three spheres of government with all other transport stakeholders, to be updated on developments and discuss any challenges faced. The ultimate goal is to assist and empower all stakeholders with welcomed recommendations to stress any comments and clarities to meet the intention of the meeting.
With the presentations from various districts, it can be alluded that municipalities have similar transport improvements and challenges, that need an element of collaboration to vastly improve the entire North West province through on-going projects. Not avoiding the continual challenges, the department and stakeholders are using participatory approach to practice and welcome drastic interventions fostering necessary and relevant improvements. The better aspect that concern focus is monitoring of public transport facilities, road safety awareness, rehabilitations of roads, scholar transport, commuter buses, taxi, operator license and permits.
The Deputy Director of Transport Planning and Coordination Mr. Segopotso Molotsi, believes that the forum should continue to put emphasis on making progress and implementations.
‘We are at the forefront of making sure that this session yield positive impact, this monitoring tools provided will help the transport industry as well as how to regulate’.
The Province has a prospect, the opportunity to lead inclusive mobility. The importance of advocating for the mainstreaming of universal accessibility in transport sector should be considered, to eliminate barriers that exist which prevents the constitutional right of persons with disabilities.
Relating to consensus, the way forward local municipalities Ngaka MM need to liase with their coordinators at the province, submit their update reports and the coordinator to consolidate the report and present in the next forum in the event where the district municipality is failing to present. With the regards to Provincial Regulatory Entity (PRE) issuing operating licenses without sending concurrence to the affected municipalities, the relevant director to be engaged. Rustenburg Local Municipality to invite road safety in their PSC meetings. With regards to the road of Kagisano Molopo Municipality, Public Works and Roads to go and check in their plans and report back to their forum. Bojanala District to share monitoring tool with the municipality.
