A dangerous goods simulation exercise


A dangerous goods simulation exercise was recently conducted involving a truck carrying hazardous materials at Potchestroom Weighbridge on N12. The simulation which aimed to showcase multi-agency collaboration in hazardous materials incident response and to raise public awareness on safety protocols. The event brought together key stakeholders including National Department of Transport, Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, SAPS, Spill Tech, Sasol, Road Incident Management System (RIMS), DP World, Fire and Rescue and Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

The exercise simulated a scenario where a truck carrying hazardous materials experienced a spill, prompting a swift response from the participating stakeholders. The simulation tested the effectiveness of emergency response protocols,communication and coordination among the various agencies involved.

The event was attended by notable Managers of Department, Mr Patrick Mohono, Acting Chief Director of the District Development Model and Mr Paul Stone for Road Traffic Management .
