Advanced Defensive driving workshop for scholar transport minibus/taxi drivers.
Mahikeng:The Department of Community Safety and Transport Management in collaboration with Road Accident Fund (RAF) conducted a three day defensive driving workshop, coordinated by Road Safety Management Directorate.
The intention was to empower the drivers on safe driving. The theme of the workshop was ” Drive Smart”
“More focus is on addressing road traffic injuries leading to the cause of child fatalities in South Africa” said Mr Ashref Ismail founder of FleetMax Africa-Drive4Life.
Through proactive road safety programmes, RAF advocate towards minimising scholar transport-related crashes and the safeguarding of young lives.
The entire workshop equiped drivers with defensive skills, emphasizing also to exercise friendly road behavior and management of hazards. “As you come out of here you should be a better driver than before, if not then it means we have wasted our time and yours”,said Mr Thabo Makwela from RAF.
He continued that ‘Driver of the Year’ initiative, is a game-changing programme encouraging scholar transport drivers to practice driving safely at all times.
The workshop sparked a renewed commitment to defensive driving, with participants demonstrating unwavering enthusiasm, setting the stage for a transformative experience that promises to empower even more drivers over the next coming years.
