Community Policing Forums (CPF)
A total of 130 men and women under the Lomanyaneng, Mmabatho and Mahikeng Police Stations have been formally appointed and inducted as Community Patrollers. They are now set to be deployed within their respective policing precincts to perform patrolling duties.
In the main, the patrollers are deployed in selected areas to observe posts and report to the police. They increase policing visibility in the areas of deployment and participate in crime prevention activities coordinated by Community Policing Forums (CPF).
The Community Patrollers Programme is facilitated through a partnership between the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, the National Department of Public Works and Infrastructure as well as the South African Police Service (SAPS) to promote community participation in the creation of safer living environments and to also provide job opportunities.
