COMMUTER SERVICES RESUME IN MADIBENG
The commuter service which was disrupted since Monday, the 28th of July 2025 in Madibeng and some parts of Rustenburg Municipalities due to a dispute with taxi operators will resume tomorrow morning. This after the Department’s intervention on what taxi operators describe as “lack of integration of taxi industry in the subsidised public transport services”.
The dispute has affected communities of several villages that include Bapong, Barseba, Lethabong, Maboloka and Mothotlung among others which are operated by Thari Bus Services.
The Head of the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Dr Hans Kekana said that he is “pleased to inform affected commuters and all stakeholders that all parties have amicably agreed that the services should resume tomorrow morning, Thursday 31st of July 2025”, said Dr Kekana.
“We will work towards ensuring there is stability in the public transport sector and appeal to all stakeholders to trust dialogue as the first and trustable step of dispute resolution of any kind”, said Dr Kekana.
