DCSTM GEARS UP FOR 2026 NATIONAL EMPLOYEE WELLNESS SPORTS AND RECREATION GAMES

Mmabatho– The Department of Community Safety and Transport Management (DCSTM) is gearing up for the 2026 National Employee Wellness Sports and Recreation (NEWSRC) Games, scheduled to take place in Bloemfontein from 27 to 31 October 2026.
Preparations are underway as DCSTM officials prepare to join public service employees from across the country to compete in various sporting codes.

The annual NEWSRC Games bring together public service departments from all provinces in a spirit of healthy competition, camaraderie and sportsmanship.
Hosted on a rotational basis, the games provide employees with an opportunity to promote physical fitness, strengthen workplace relationships and embrace a healthy lifestyle beyond the workplace.
The event is coordinated by the Employee Health and Wellness unit, which plays a pivotal role in promoting employee well-being through sports and recreational activities.

Acting Chief Director for Corporate Services, Dr Marindi, extended his well wishes to all participating athletes, commending them not only for competing, but for their commitment and dedication.
He emphasized that sport is more than just a game, as it contributes significantly to both physical health and mental well-being.

“Sports helps us to stimulate and overcome the challenges we face on a daily basis,” said Dr Marindi.
“Let’s go there and show everyone that COSATMA is present and still committed,” he added.
In conclusion, Dr Marindi expressed appreciation to all players for their efforts and wished them safe travels and success at the games.
