DEPARTMENT WELCOMES NEW INTERNS THROUGH INDUCTION PROGRAMME

MAHIKENG – The North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management has welcomed newly appointed interns through a departmental induction programme aimed at equipping them with the knowledge and values required for effective public service.

The induction was facilitated by the Deputy Director for Human Resources Utilization and Capacity Development, Mr. Kalodi Mogotsi, who introduced interns to the Department’s constitutional and legislative mandate, organisational structure, government planning processes, and the values that guide the South African Public Service.

Mr. Mogotsi encouraged interns to uphold ethics, accountability and professionalism, stressing that they play an important role in supporting the Department’s mandate to deliver quality services to communities across the province.

“As public servants, you are guided by the Constitution and the Code of Conduct. This forms the foundation of how we serve our communities,” said Mr. Mogotsi.

The session highlighted the importance of ethical conduct and service excellence, reminding interns that integrity and responsible decision-making are fundamental to public service.

The programme also addressed workplace sexual harassment. Assistant Director for Gender Focal Point and Diversity Management, Ms. Lesego Lobelo, cautioned interns against inappropriate behaviour, including offensive jokes, unwanted physical contact and other conduct that may constitute sexual harassment. She emphasised that maintaining a respectful workplace is everyone’s responsibility and warned that misconduct could result in disciplinary action, including dismissal.
