Department will deal harshly and decisively against any corrupt official

The MEC for the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management Wessels Morweng says the Department will deal harshly and decisively against any official found to have contravened the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act and the Public Finance Management Act.

This follows an allegation raised by a Member of the North West Provincial Legislature during the SOPA debate that there are some officials of the Department who allow unroadworthy learner buses because they are fraudulently benefitting from operators.

MEC Morweng was unequivocal in that there are policies in place to ensure that all officials act with integrity.
