DR RUTH SEGOMOTSI MOMPATI YEAR OPENING PRAYER

The Department of Community Safety and Transport Management held a spiritual prayer service at the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District in Vryburg Traffic Station.

Titled the “2026 Dr Ruth Mompati Opening Prayer”under the theme”Kneel before God to stand before people”, the service was led by Chaplain Mothabeng, who spoke to “aspects that keep both personal, and work relationships healthy”.

“In this month of love, we must not only focus on nurturing personal relationships but also remember to love our colleagues as thyself”, said Chaplain Mothabeng. The Chaplain further emphasised the significance of women in society and the workplace holistically. He spoke about how women should consider how influencial they are, and to use that as a tool to build and not destroy.

“A woman is the determinant factor between a good life and a bad one. In our households, women play an important role and are regarded as pillars of the homes. In the workplace, they should bring peace and harmony, backed by decisiveness. Their importance can therefore not be undermined”, said Chaplain Mothabeng.

Ms. Innocentia Selomane, Deputy Director responsible for Integrated Employee Health and Wellness reflected on HIV/AIDS indicating that it’s one of the pillar within programmes of IEHW in the department. This is where employees are encouraged to know their status and adhere to treatment thereof.
She furthermore mentioned that, the Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi last year launched the HIV/AIDS treatment, known as”Close the gap” campaign. The objective of the campaign is to close the gap by putting additional 1.1 million people who are living with HIV/AIDS but not on treatment.

Prof. George Maleba, a local Pastor, Chairperson of Spiritual Crime Prevention in Huhudi in his message of support read from Exodus 23:20-22, he said as he brings the scripture closer home, as employees in the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management we are angels and stewards of positions in our workplace entrusted by our Master. Prof. Maleba highlighted that there is a reward on how faithfully one chooses to do their work knowing there is a God who sees. He referred to traffic officers as an example, encouraging them not to take bribes in their line of duty because they are not for sale. “The reward might not be tangible but it will be fulfilling in the long run”. He said ”

The prayer service was mostly attended by Traffic officers from Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District, indeed the service uplifted employees spiritually and they considered themselves blessed.
