FAREWELL ADDRESS BY HOD

Officials of Community Safety and Transport Management gathered at Ngaka Modiri Molema to receive a farewell address by the Head of Department, Dr. Hans Kekana prior to the 2024 National Employee Wellness and Recreation (NEWSRC) tournament.

The 20th NEWSRC Tournament will be held in Pretoria on the 5th of November 2024 until the 8th of November 2024.

The HOD Dr. Kekana, extended a warm welcome to all officials present and acknowledged their dedication and energy displayed to their various sporting codes. He emphasized the importance of one’s participation in sports as a means to overall wellness. “Work without play makes James a dull boy. Mmereko ga o feele, go fela motho. We are so obsessed with work that we sometimes even forget who we are” he said. Dr. Kekana further cautioned officials to indulge in activities responsibly at the tournament keeping in mind that they are representing the department. “Let us not dent the image of our department, let’s rather host the flag high in our performance as team COSATMA.

In his address Dr. Kekana applauded sporting officials in their commitment and efforts in ensuring that they instill fitness in our staff members, “sports is a way to bring us together. It shows unity, how we treat and relate to each other, and also how we work together.” He wished all sporting codes well in the upcoming tournament and emphasing the significance of disciplined.

Sports fanatics received the words of encouragement with open hands, singing, dancing as a way of showing the spirit of determination to conquer the upcoming tournament.

“This year ten departments registered to participate in the tournament. For the first time in women’s soccer, there are seven teams participating” said CPI Chief Provincial Inspector Mmutle.

Transport Administration and Licensing Director Seubel Mmono also wished the teams well in their journey and encouraged them to play safe and stay injury free this year. As the heat gets hotter, let us not change our tone and temper because that can demoralize our fellow team members. Let us support each other” said Mr Mmono.
