INDUCTION OF DEPARTMENTAL INTERNS

Mahikeng :The department of Community Safety and Transport Management inducted the newly appointed Interns today at Tirelo Building.

Deputy Director for Capacity Building and Development Mr. Kalodi Mogotsi opened and welcomed all the attendees by congratulating them. “We are grateful to have you in the department and we urge you to learn as much as possible. Use this opportunity to market yourself, and pay attention to the information you will be receiving today during this induction” said Mr. Mogotsi.

Condition of Service practitioners Mr. Bakang Tshipo and Ms. Boikhutso Oodiri gave a thorough presentation on different types of leaves and procedures on how one should utilize them. “When you plan to apply for leave, make sure you discuss it first with your immediate supervisor on time and submit the form signed by both parties before you go on leave, the form must be accompanied by leave credit record from HRM ” said Ms. Oodiri.

Labour Relations practitioner Ms. Grace Mohlakoane presented the Code of Conduct in detail where she outlined five phases adhered to the RSA Constitution and other relevant legislations. The phases are as follows: Relationship with the public, Ethical Conduct, Performance of official duties and Employees as candidates for elections.
“Align yourself with these five phases and you will be on the right path,” said Ms. Mahlakoane.

Mr. Mlungisi Moloma from Gender Focal Point and Diversity Management provided a presentation on sexual harassment in the workplace and the procedures on how and where to report such actions. He outlined various types of harassments and the consequences that one can encounter. “Sexual harassment is not wanted in and outside of the workplace. When one is being harassed, victim must report to Labour Relations Unit,” said Mr. Moloma.

Ms. Kgalalelo Molebiemang Deputy Director for Ethics and Integrity Management presented Ethics in the public service and clarified conflict of interest when conducting business with organs of state “Guard against acceptance for any type of gifts from service providers because it opens a door of expectations in terms of getting something in return and or favours from officials,” said Ms. Molebiemang.

The interns appreciated the opportunity to be inducted and expressed their gratitude to HRD for organising the workshop which was a real eye opener for them.
