“There is an acknowledgement that transport is not sufficiently accessible to all categories of passengers, including persons with disabilities. As part of a reformed approach to urban planning, integrated public transport programmes are being implemented in a number of municipalities”, said President Ramaphosa opening the Transport Summit on Universal Accessibility held in Boksburg in Gauteng. The Summit is hosted by the department of National Transport. Among others in attendance are Minister of Women and People with Disabilities Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Minister of Transport, Ms Sindisiwe Chikunga, MECs for Transport from different Provinces, Executive Major of Erkuruleni, HODs from different provinces, CEOs of State Entities, SANTACO including North West led by Mr Ebusang Tladi, SANWIT, NTI, SANSBOC led by Mr Final Kgodumo, State Entities such as ACSA, SAMSA, RAF, PRASA, SACAA, TETA, AARTO, RTIA and many other transport formations. The COSATMA representatives were led by Director for Transport Planning Dr Olebogeng Baikgaki.
