MEC MORWENG APPLAUDS POLICE FOR DRUG BUST WORTH MILLIONS IN MORETELE
MAHIKENG – MEC responsible for the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng has applauded the police for drug bust worth millions of Rands in Makapanstad in the Bojanala District Municipality. MEC Morweng has called on community members to be vigilant and work with police to fight crime in all forms.
The police discovered drug laboratory in Thulwe village near Makapanstad where ostensibly the drugs were being manufactured.
The police followed a suspect who was wanted for drug distribution and this led the police to a Makapanstad smallholding which was used as a drug den.
Six suspects ranging from 44 to 55 years were found with mandrax and large quantity of tablets and powder, weighing machine packaging bags.
MEC Morweng reiterated the need for the community to report any criminal activities in their environ.
“To root out criminality we need community to be vigilant and report all suspicious activities. We applaud the police for swiftly arresting the suspects”, concluded MEC Morweng.
The six suspects will appear in court soon on charges of drugs manufacturing.
