MEC Morweng commends law enforcement on successful drug bust near Zeerust.

North West MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng has applauded law enforcement officials for their swift and effective response in arresting suspects in a recent drug bust near Zeerust.

The successful operation which resulted in the seizure of illicit substances called crystal meth, demonstrates commitment to tackle the scourge of drug-related crime in the province.

MEC Morweng commended the police and traffic officers for their diligence and professionalism in executing the arrest.

“Drugs are dangerous and mainly affects young people negatively, therefore, we must commend men and women in uniform for their stunning work on the arrest.

“The preliminary investigations suggest that the street value of these substances is over 30 million rands. However, the confirmed value will be determined as further investigations unfold ,” said MEC Morweng who was at the Zeerust Police Station in the afternoon.

Two male suspects, from Tanzania (42) and Zambia (39) were taken into custody and are expected to make their court appearance in the forthcoming days. The investigation is being conducted with utmost thoroughness, ensuring that all aspects are meticulously examined.
