MEC MORWENG EXPRESSES CONFIDENCE ON THE JUSTICE SYSTEM
North West MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng says he is confident that justice will be served on the two cases of murder in Taung.
This follows the arrest of eight people and they were all remanded in custody until Monday, 04 November, for their bail application.
The suspects appeared yesterday in Taung Magistrate Court.
The accused appeared as follows:
Letlhogolo Mothobi (38) and Itumeleng Boikanyo (45) and are facing charges of kidnapping, attempted murder and malicious damage to property.
Othusitse Oshubile (31), Paul Kwati (43) and Ogopoleng Semau (33) were charged with attempted murder, murder and arson.
Thomas Morakanele (29), Tshepo Sekgetho (31) and Lesego Mongale (34) appeared on a charge of arson.
The investigation team also arrested the ninth suspect yesterday, Monday, 28 October, 2024, Lebogang Morakabe (44). He is facing charges of kidnapping, attempted murder and malicious damage to property together with Letlhogolo Mothobi and Itumeleng Boikanyo.
“Our men and women in blue are working hard on the case to ensure that all responsible for these acts are brought to the book. We are confident that they will leave no stone unturned on their investigation and close all gaps with enough evidence to serve the Magistrate for the court proceedings.
When someone has committed crime, they must be arrested and closed behind bars where they belong. Our communities must be safe and have confidence in our government and judiciary,” said Morweng.
