MEC MORWENG LEADS AN ALL-WOMEN JOINT LAW ENFORCEMENT OPERATION
The MEC for the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng leads an all-women joint law enforcement operation as part of commemoration for the Women’s Month. August 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the historic 1956 Women’s March when over 20 000 women marched to the seat of Government the Union Building.
The joint law enforcement operation seeks to enforce compliance with road traffic regulations as part of the Department’s mandate to reduce the road crashes and fatalities. Amongst the scheduled activities that will be led by women law enforcement officers includes, special roadblocks, drunken driving operations, road safety education, outreach programmes and safety awareness initiatives.
MEC Morweng launches the operation with an intensified road safety campaign with special focus on pedestrian crossing awareness, followed by the joint law enforcement operation focusing on compliance.
