MEC Morweng meets with Security Companies contracted by Department
The North West MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng as part of meet and greet, encountered with security companies doing business with the department to get an understanding of their challenges and to determine areas that require improvement.
The meeting was chaired by the Head of Department, Dr Hans Kekana and head of security for the department Mr Sylvester Khonkhobe.
MEC Morweng emphasized the importance of safeguarding government properties and resources as part of contributing to the overall services rendered to the communities.
“I have a concern when it comes to the vandalism and damage to government property, because the repair costs derail our efforts to steer resources towards transforming the lives of our people.
“Therefore, we are prepared to assist where there is a need to make sure that all government buildings are safe even for workers who spend more of their time at work,” said MEC.
Dr Kekana also advised companies to introduce technology to run their business so that they can be able to deal with sophisticated methods used by those who want to derail government progress through criminality.
In closing the meeting MEC told the companies owners to work closely with the Department in order to deal with destructions at government buildings.
“Gone are the days where people would just decide to invade buildings and in so doing, putting the lives of others in danger and disrupting the smooth working of everybody.
“I am a phone call away as a community member, let us use meaningful ways to engage and resolve any challenges because there is no reason to invade and disrupt,” concluded MEC Morweng.
