MEC MORWENG MOURNS THE TRAGIC PASSING OF VRYBURG HIGH SCHOOL LEARNERS
MAHIKENG – The MEC for the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng, sends deepest condolences to the families of two Vryburg High School learners and their driver who died in a road accident yesterday on Wednesday, the 8th of April 2026. The accident happened at 07:00 in the morning.
They were traveling on N14 from Delareyville to Vryburg on the first day of the second school quarter when the sedan in which they were traveling collided head on with a truck traveling the opposite direction.
The 43 year old driver and two girls aged 14 and 15 died at the scene of the accident. Two other passengers, both aged 17 were taken to the Joe Morolong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The 45 year old truck driver who was travelling alone, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
A case of culpable homicide is being investigated.
