Rustenburg: MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Sello Lehari, accompanied by the Mayor of Rustenburg Local Municipality, Shiela Mabale-Huma and other senior managers including HOO, Adv Tebogo Motlhamme are visiting the grieving family of ANC Councillor at Rustenburg Local Municipality, Poppy Morapedi. Cllr Morapedi was gunned down earlier this week in front of her family home by unknown assailants in Photsaneng village outside Rustenburg.
While offering a message of condolences to the distraught family, MEC Sello Lehari discribed the crime as “senseless and very heinous“, saying all law enforcement agencies have been activated to hunt the suspect(s);
“We will leave no stone unturned in unravelling those who are behind the killing of our sister, a mother and the leader in this community. We are poorer without Cllr Morapedi”
The family has expressed great gratitude for the support shown by both the local municipality and the provincial government represented by Mayor Cllr Mabale-Huma and MEC Lehari respectively.
Cllr Morapedi will be laid tomorrow morning, 04 May 2024 in her home village of Photsaneng.
