North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management Convenes Provincial Transport Forum
Directorate of Transport Planning and Policy Development under the Chief Directorate of Transport Operations hosted the 4th quarter Provincial Transport Forum in the Bojanala platinum District chaired by the Acting Director Mr Segopotso Molotsi.
This quarterly forum brings together departmental officials, municipal representatives, and various stakeholders to discuss and strategize on pressing transport issues affecting the province. This is in line with the requirements of the National Land Transport Act (NLTA). The forum provides a platform that allows municipalities and all transport stakeholders to delibarate and share ideas.
Mr Jomo Moiloa, of the hosting district in the Bojanala , welcomed all officials to the 4th quarter 2024/2025 Provincial Transport Forum and wished everyone a productive day.
The agenda of the forum included discussions on the improvement of road infrastructure networks, scholar transport operations, optimization of the public transport systems, and implementation of advanced traffic management technologies. “The scholar transport issues are also getting the necessary attention. We are currently working on sustainable monitoring process that can assist in combating the use of unroadworthy buses by service providers,” said Mr Morapedi of the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management.
Mr Molotsi emphasised the department’s commitment to enhance transportation infrastructure and safety. He highlighted the forum’s role in fostering collaboration among stakeholders to develop effective solutions for the province’s transport challenges, ” I acknowledge the significance of this forum in uniting key partners to work together and create effective strategies to tackle the region’s transportation issues. The purpose is to impact change in the lives of the citizens and to add value to the economy of the province.” Said Molotsi
