TRAFFIC OFFICERS WHO FELL WITH BOOTS ON COMMEMORATED

PRETORIA – The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is commemorated globally on the third Sunday of November every year. The event seeks to acknowledge and commemorate the victims of road traffic crashes and their families. This year the event was used as a Wreath-Laying Ceremony for the Fallen Traffic Officers since 2019. The event led by the Transport Deputy Minister Mkhuleko Hlengwa was held at Boekenhoutkloof Traffic Academy in Pretoria West.

Among the fallen officers who were being commemorated is Principal Provincial Inspector (PPI) Martha Mmadipudi Motlhako. She met her untimely death when she was hit by a vehicle which she was trying to stop during the law enforcement operation on N4 outside Zeerust on the 9th of December in 2021.

Giving the message of support, the MEC for the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng, said these officers will always be remembered for upholding the ethical conduct of their profession.

“As we prepare for year-end joint law enforcement operations, I implore on all officers to do so diligently and respectfully. Be inspired by those for whom we have gathered here today to remember. Those who will forever be remembered for their patriotism, said MEC Morweng.
